Help Me Choose

How to choose the right hair set?

When choosing your weight, it's important to opt for a set that best matches your hair type, how much hair you have, and your haircut. For example, if you have lots of hair strands, a blunt haircut, or short hair you will need to consider a heavier weight to ensure there is a natural blend where your hair ends and the extensions begin.

How long is your hair?

Clip-Ins

Your hair should be at least 6-7 inches long (which is around shoulder length). The reason why this is the recommended length is that your hair needs to be long enough in order for the clips to secure onto your hair sturdily, and to ensure that the clips don't show through your short hair.

Halo

Your hair should be below shoulder-length (medium to long length). We do not recommend Halo extensions for those with short hair as you will need more wefts and hair to create a seamless blend.

How do I find out what hair type I have?

How to find your hair type

Diameter of Hair Strands/Hair Strand Texture

The best place to start in determining your hair type is to begin by measuring the diameter of a single strand of hair. Take one strand of hair between your fingertips. Don’t feel anything? This is a sign of thin/fine hair. If you do feel the strand, your hair is of medium width, and if it feels thick or textured, your hair is likely thick/coarse.

Another strand test includes taking one single strand and laying it on a flat surface. If it’s barely visible, it is thin/fine. If it looks textured and thick, your hair is coarse. Anything in between is medium. Setting a single strand of hair next to a piece of thread can also help you gauge the diameter or width of your hair; if it’s about the same width, your hair is medium. If it is thicker than the thread, your hair is thick. Similarly, if it is thinner, your hair is thin/fine.

Hair Density/Thickness

People often confuse diameter and hair density to be one and the same. A person may have a thin strand width but have a thick amount of hair. Essentially, hair density refers to how much hair you actually have – the number of strands themselves and not how thick each one is. Thin diameter does not always equal thin density, nor does medium diameter equal medium density. More often than not, people will have differing densities and diameters.

The method to determining your hair density is simple; take a handful of hair from the front of your head and gently pull it to the side. Is a lot of your scalp visible between the bunches of strands? If so, this means you have thin density, if you can barely see your scalp at all, your hair’s density is thick. Anything in between is medium/average density.

What is the difference between all of the different weights?

Clip-Ins

All clip-in extensions are sold in a full set (9-10 wefts depending on the weight/set). The only difference between each set is the weight. The higher the grams, the more hair that is attached to each weft. The individual strands themselves will remain consistent in thickness.

Kindly note, the 16" Classic/Seamless Clip-Ins (140g) have the same density as the 20" Classic Clip-Ins (160g) but are less in weight due to the shorter length. Also, the 24" Clip-Ins (240g) are the same density as the 20" Classic Clip-Ins (220g) however, they are heavier due to the longer length.

Halo

Our Halo extensions are sold in a 3 piece set. The 16" Halo is the same density as the 20" Halo, however, it is less in weight due to the shorter length.

Our 20" Halo (180g) comes with a 10" wide weft that is 140 grams of hair. It comes with two bonus 2-clip wefts (20 grams each) to help blend in the hair that frames your face. Our 16" Halo (140g) comes with a 10" wide weft that is 110 grams of hair. The two bonus 2-clip wefts are 15 grams each.

What is the difference between the Classic and Seamless collections?

Difference Between Classic & Seamless Clip-Ins

Seamless clip-in extensions are made with a thin silicone-based weft that lays flat against your head.

How do I choose between Clip-In and Halo extensions?

Difference between Clip-In and Halo extensions

Halo extensions are best suited for those with a thin/medium hair type that is below shoulder length. If you have a lot of hair, short hair, a blunt cut or thick hair, you will need to consider our clip-in extensions instead to achieve a natural blend.

What length should I choose?

Clip-in BLL Hair extensions are available in our 16" 18" 20" 22", Classic and Seamless collections. Our Halo extensions come in either 16 inches or 20 inches. BLL Hair extensions will appear different in length on every person, as we all have different torso lengths. If you have a longer torso or are quite tall, BLL hair will appear shorter on you. If you are more petite or have a shorter torso, they will appear longer on you.

In order to determine how long your extensions will be on you, we recommend measuring either 16, 20 or 24 inches down from the top of your ear with a measuring tape, as most wefts will be applied around the crown of your head. For Halo extensions, please measure from the crown of your head as the main weft will be applied here.

The good news is that all full sets of BLL Hair come with a tester weft that can be used to determine if the length is a good match for you. If it isn’t an ideal match, we are more than happy to accommodate a return or exchange within 60 days. You can learn more about our return policy here.

Be sure to check out the below weight breakdowns if you are still unsure of which length/set will be best for your hair type.

How to choose Halo set?

Since our Halo extensions come in a standard 140g/180g thickness (depending on the length) it is not ideal for those with thicker or shorter hair types. It will likely appear "stringy" at the bottom if attempted to blend in these hair types.
